33. How much will Connected affect my device’s battery?
Connected ’s team spent a large effort on optimizing the battery usage of the app, battery draining depends on how frequent you go on drives and walks. You should expect an unnoticeable amount of battery drain in your daily usage if you choose to install our app; however, If you do notice abnormal battery usage, please contact our support team.
34. Why is the app telling me I have stopped sharing my location
In some instances, turning on Battery Saving will turn off the location service of the device, resulting in our app not receiving your location anymore. Make sure to turn off battery saving if you want to share your location with your circle members.
You can also take various measures to improve location accuracy.
35. How can I get the most accurate location updates?
For you to have the best experience in the app, all participants in your group must have the Location service turned on, and if they have an accuracy mode option available on their phone, they should choose the High Accuracy option.
Turning your device's WiFi on, even if you’re not connected to a WiFi network, helps improve your location accuracy; as your device uses the WiFi sensor to locate nearby WiFi base stations and narrows down your exact location based on that information, this helps a lot when you’re in the bounds of a building, if you have your WiFi turned off, your location may be inaccurate.
Keeping the app open improves your location’s accuracy compared to when the app is running in the background.
Make sure NOT to set any background restriction NOR battery optimization setting from your phone on the app, this can greatly decrease the accuracy of the location, and prevent the app from running in the background sometimes.
Having a low battery charge (20% or less) will either prevent or delay the app from sharing your data with your family, make sure to always have a higher percentage than 20% if you want your family to see your latest updates.
Recommended Settings for Android phones:
From your phone’s settings, go to the Apps section, choose the Connected app, tap Battery, and make sure the Allow background activity option is enabled, while Optimize battery usage should be Not optimized.
Now press back, and make sure Notifications are allowed, Notifications keep you up to date with your group members’ location updates, place updates, driving alerts, help requests and more.
From the same screen that you entered Notifications from, select permissions, and allow the app to use those permissions.
Again, from that same screen, above the Battery option, tap Mobile data, and make sure Allow background data usage is enabled, it is also recommended to enable Allow app while Data saver on.
